Jezebel was a figure described in the Old Testament as the wife of Ahab, king of Israel.
The queen was always seen as a promiscuous and deceptive person in christian view. It is important to notice that Jezebel was not originally from Israel. She was born a Phoenician princess and apprentice of the Mother Goddess (a Fertility Goddess, the one who gives birth).
Jezebel was a devotee of Baal (Canaanite god of sun and storms) and Asherah (Canaanite goddess of motherhood and fertility) and that offended the people of Israel who saw the new queen as a threat, just because she worshiped different gods.
